There is no difference between a share and share capital.

  • Share Capital represents the equity (core capital) of the SACCO, divided into affordable shares that allow every Member to own a part of the Society.
  • Each registered SACCO Member holds at least 20 shares, valued at Kshs. 1000/= each. Thus Kshs. 20,000
  • Share Capital is transferable, with the SACCO facilitating the process.
  • The shares consistently earn annual dividends as agreed by the Management Committee

3. How do I make contributions towards my share capital?

  • When a member makes a payment, they have the flexibility to decide the allocation between the share capital and their main savings account and other savings accounts.
  • It’s important to note that the minimum share capital is Kshs 20,000.
  • By consistently purchasing shares in the Sacco, members contribute to their share capital, which the Sacco then invests for growth purposes.

4. What is a dividend?

A portion of the society’s surplus, distributed among its members, is determined by the Sacco’s profitability and each member’s shareholding percentage.
